May Events & Activities – Join Us

Friday 8th May, 11:00am, VE Day. We will be celebrating the anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), marking 70 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Enjoy a sing-along with singer Sam Jones and refreshments available, all welcome!

Tuesday 19th May, 2:00pm, Dementia Awareness Event. Prestbury House will be hosting an event to support dementia awareness and raise funds, we have two trained dementia champions who will be signing you up to be a dementia friend and dementia resources available to give you more awareness, enjoy entertainment and refreshments available. All welcome!

Friday 22nd May, 12:30pm, Traditional Fish & Chip Lunch. Our residents will be tucking into some delicious English fish & chips as a Friday treat.

PRESTBURY HOUSE WELCOMES LANCE TIPPER AS HOME MANAGER

Porthaven has recently appointed Lance Tipper as the new Home Manager for Prestbury House Care Home in Macclesfield.

Lance has worked in health care since 1978 when he commenced Nurse training at Cranage Hall Hospital, qualifying in 1981. Following that, he spent many years working within learning disability services in South Cheshire and Stockport, gaining extensive clinical experience through holding posts such as Charge Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and finally, as Service Manager. Lance entered the elderly care sector a few years ago when he became the Home Manager for a large care home in Didsbury. He is also actively involved in Rugby Union, both as a player and as a coach.

Lance is looking forward to the challenges presented by his new role as Home Manager, and is confident he has the energy and drive to deliver excellent care for the residents at Prestbury House.

We welcome Lance to the Porthaven team.

On Thursday 16th October 2014, Katie Rushworth from ITV’s ‘Love Your Garden’, came to Prestbury House to spend a wonderful morning with our residents and guests for an informative talk on what to do with your garden in Autumn and how to plan to get the most out of your garden next year.

The morning comprised of a welcome reception, followed by an informative talk by Katie Rushworth and delicious light lunch.

Great British Bake Off finalist entertains guests and residents

 

Care home events - Baker Brendan Lynch

 

On Friday 29th August 2014, Prestbury House care home was honoured to play host to one of the Great British Bake Off’s favourite bakers, Brendan Lynch. At this exclusive and complimentary event, Brendan Lynch gave a wonderful baking demonstration and took time to answer many of our attendees baking questions.

The event started at 10:30am, with Brendan giving a very informative and insightful baking demonstration and Q&A , followed by a delicious light lunch for guests and residents.

Care home events - Mr. Hall

 

On Wednesday 9th July 2014, TV antiques expert Nick Hall gave an informative talk, followed by a valuation of personal items of residents and invitees’ jewellery, ceramics, paintings, collectables and much more.

The day comprised of light refreshments in the morning, followed by a talk from Nick Hall, a lovely lunch, and an eventful afternoon of valuations of personal items.
