Special events

We recognise our homes are an important part of the local and wider community they serve, and our activities and wellbeing teams ensure that there is a full programme throughout the year of social events that involve local schools, colleges, businesses and organisations with whom we build partnerships and enable our residents to engage in community affairs and society.

We all have a need to be connected and have a sense of belonging; at Porthaven we are honoured that the social activities we help to plan create links between our residents and their communities, and bring different generations of people together.

Some of our special relationships include The Wallace Collection, London, one of the country’s finest national museums, who we have worked with since 2012 to enable access to great art for our residents and who train our activities and wellbeing teams to present art history confidently in a fun and accessible way.

Visitors to the home are a regular part of Porthaven’s activities and wellbeing programme, such as musicians, pet therapists, entertainers or local children, but every Porthaven home also hosts larger events where residents and visitors are entertained by well-known national entertainers.

Recent visitors include Adam Henson (BBC Countryfile), Angela Rippon, Eric Knowles (Antiques Roadshow), Frances Tophill and Steve Sebburn (Invictus Games Gold Medallist).
