Bourne Wood Manor’s Remembrance Week

From 5th-11th November, we created a week long programme to remember the fallen on the centenary of the end of the First World War. The activities were created for ex-servicemen and women, families, friends and loved ones to remember those who fought for our country. During the week, we created a collaborative art installation for the bistro area and tried our hand at poppy origami. There was a show and tell of artefacts from the trenches and we also played the Richard Attenborough film, ‘Oh! What a Lovely War’. We were entertained by Lydia Margaret, a local Farnham singer, who performed a Remembrance set for our residents. We ended the week on Sunday 11th November by playing live coverage from the Cenotaph in the cinema for residents, staff and families to respect the two minute silence. It was a week of reflection but also celebration for our war heroes.
