We celebrated National Care Home Open Day in style on 28th June by hosting a gala evening of opera performed by the professionally renowned Garsington Opera, in collaboration with Songhaven.
In an evening that both delighted and enchanted, champagne and canapéswerefollowed by a gala concert from Garsington Opera artists. The programme for the night featured works from Carmen, The Merry Widow, South Pacific, The Dancing Years, The Tales of Hoffmann and more, performed by mezzo-soprano Ailsa Mainwaring, baritone Robert Gildon and pianist, Rebecca Cohen.
Together with Songhaven, we had a shared and dedicated purpose for the evening: to provide our residents and guests with a live music experience usually afforded to London opera goers. The power of music has long been shown to create a sense of connection and joy with listeners, particularly for the elderly as well as for those living with dementia.
Music is an important aspect often incorporated into day-to-day life here at Chiltern Grange. Our award-winning programme of events and activities is a prime example of how we ensure each of our residents has access to fun and stimulation which is integral to their wellbeing.
