Following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we are delighted to announce that we have secured a ‘good’ rating from the health and social care regulator.
Deemed to be ‘good’ in all five outcomes of the report, the CQC was full of praise for our professional team who they described as ‘well-trained’. They noted how well our staff cared for our residents saying they were ‘kind and caring and respected their individual needs and preferences’ and that care ‘was planned and delivered in a person-centred way’.
We were pleased to read within the report that inspectors had recognised how we encourage residents to remain independent and to maintain a presence in the local community thanks to the strong links we have built in our local area. The report said that we allowed our residents to have ‘maximum choice and control of their lives’. This could be seen through our regular participation in events such as Buxton in Bloom and the Buxton Art Trail.
Our home manager, Valerie MacQueen, was also commended thanks to the positive feedback provided to inspectors by relatives and staff. Relatives noted she was ‘approachable and listened to them’ whilst staff said she was ‘fair’ and ‘supportive’.
The outcome of the report is testament to the compassion and diligence of our team and how hard we work to enable our residents to live in a safe, proactive and encouraging environment and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
