Over the summer, our leisure and wellness team, head chef Paul and his team, residents, staff and families have been hard at work helping us to fulfil the requirements for the categories within this year’s Porthaven Garden and Hospitality Challenge. We have planted colourful flowers, grown vegetables and made our very own water feature for the Garden Challenge. For the Hospitality Challenge, the team have hosted a summer event, created concept desserts and head chef Paul took part in a MasterChef-style chef’s challenge. We attended a prize giving for the competition on 26th September and we’re delighted to say we walked away with quite a few accolades. For the Garden Challenge, we won the ‘Colours of the Rainbow Plants’ and the ‘Vegetable Patch Superstar’ categories and were awarded second place overall. For our part in the Hospitality Challenge, Paul and his team won the ‘Dysphagia Descriptors’ category as well as ‘Signature Dish – Concept Dessert’. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to everyone who helped us along the way – it was a very proud day indeed!
