Penhurst Gardens Celebrates Four Nominations at Prestigious Awards!

We are delighted to announce that we have not one, but four nominees this year at the prestigious Great British Care Awards! The Awards celebrate excellence across the care sector, recognising those who have demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm, diligence and dedication in their field of work.

Audrey Henderson-Sowerby, our Leisure & Wellness coordinator, has been nominated for the Care Home Activity Organiser Award. Audrey only began her career in care in 2016 but has quickly impressed everyone with her dedication to the residents and her enthusiasm for the role.

Isabelle Wall is our second nominee and is up for the Care Trainer Award. Isabelle’s career in care began after volunteering in a small care home in India in 2012. Following this experience and spurred on by her love of supporting others, she naturally progressed into training and joined Penhurst Gardens as home trainer at the beginning of 2017.

Alison McHugh has been nominated for the Good Nurse Award for her role as RGN. Alison graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a diploma in nursing in 2014. Since starting at Penhurst Gardens in January, she has continually shown great commitment to the physical and emotional health of the residents.

Shaun Bate, our head chef, has been nominated for the Care Home Cook/Chef Award. Shaun has worked in the catering industry for 16 years, and says working in care has opened his eyes and renewed his passion for his work. He says he feels a great achievement seeing the home’s residents enjoying his food.

The winners of the awards will be announced on 25th November, so we wish all the nominees the best of luck!
