Alison Martin’s Harp performance

On Saturday 24th August, we had the pleasure of hearing a harp recital by Alison Martin, principal harpist with the English National Opera since 1984 and harp tutor at the Royal Academy of Music. Having trained initially as a piano accompanist, she enjoys ensemble work and accompanying choirs and also happens to be the daughter of one of our lovely residents, Betty.
Alison played a wide range of beautiful music including some pieces by Mozart and Tchaikovsky, and some other pieces that she had arranged herself. After the recital, residents were invited to come up and look at Alison’s wonderfully intricate harp and some of the residents even got to have a go at playing it! This was a special occasion and we are looking forward to hearing Alison play again in December when she will be entertaining us with some festive pieces.
