Each year, Porthaven organises its Garden and Hospitality Challenge for staff and residents with a range of categories to compete in to test their practical skills, level of creativity and ability to work as a team. This year, categories in the Garden Challenge included ‘Haven for Wildlife’ and a ‘Photographic Challenge’ whilst in the Hospitality Challenge, there was an award for the best Easter cake and a MasterChef style cook off!
The prize giving took place on 21st September at Chiltern Grange and victorious in the Garden Challenge was Astbury Mere, scooping prizes for the best ‘Grand Entrance’ and ‘Project Document’ and winning the competition overall! In the Hospitality Challenge, Chiltern Grange won the ‘Signature Dish’ category, their Head Chef, Paul Ganea, won the Chef’s Cook Off and they won the overall Challenge too!
A big well done to all the homes that took part in both Challenges – the effort and commitment was brilliant and we can’t wait to see what next year’s competition brings.
