A Day at Bletchley Park!

Our residents recently enjoyed a day trip to Bletchley Park, the famous estate in Milton Keynes that became the principal centre of allied code-breaking during the Second World War.

This was a fascinating outing which allowed us to learn more about the wartime intelligence efforts that took place there, including learning about Alan Turing and the team who devised automatic machinery to help with decryption, which led to the development of Colossus, the world’s first programmable digital electronic computer.

Leisure and wellness coordinator Lara said, ‘The trip was a really popular choice for our residents, particularly Norman who served in the Merchant Navy during the war.’
