As our preparations for Christmas got underway, we were very kindly contacted by local girls’ school, Pipers Corner, who invited us to be a part of their Christmas community project.
Christmas is a time for family, friends and togetherness and as things proved a little harder during last year’s festive season, the project was the perfect way of uniting our residents with their families and friends through the creation of a virtual Christmas card.
Friends and loved ones were asked to send in special Christmas messages, meaningful songs and photos from previous Christmases or other happy occasions, all of which was collated into the most heart-warming video montage. We were touched to see the enthusiasm and effort made by everyone, with messages sent in from all over the United Kingdom and from as far away as Australia and America. Family and friends took the time to dress up, perform songs and record heartfelt messages, all set to music which meant so much to our residents.
The video was shown throughout the home over Christmas as a surprise and everyone was in agreement that it was a fantastic gift to have received. Resident, Connie, commented: “It was a lovely surprise and lovely to see so many messages from my family, some of whom live quite far away. They’d sent in some special photos too which I loved seeing again. It was amazing!”
As well as creating the beautiful video, the Pipers Corner girls generously delivered hampers full of handpicked gifts for all residents too, each neatly wrapped with an individual handwritten card.
We would like to extend our thanks to the pupils of Pipers Corner School for thinking of our home and for creating a video that our residents can cherish.
