To commemorate World Braille Day, we here at Woodland Manor Care Home in Chalfont St Peter, connected with South Bucks Guide Dogs Organisation on Zoom. We met Marilyn, Jeanne and her dog, Breck as we listened to an informative and inspiring talk about the training process and allocation of these fantastic guide dogs for the blind. Breck, who is now retired, and his owner will hopefully be visiting Woodland Manor in the spring.
We spent the afternoon creating our names in raised dots, otherwise known as Braille, from the Braille alphabet sheets they brought with them. Our chef made our residents some tasty, gingerbread paw biscuits to accompany refreshments after the talk.
