Aylesbury, the thriving county town of Buckinghamshire, sits on the edge of the beautiful Chiltern Hills in the Home Counties and its traditional market still survives from the 13th century, sitting comfortably alongside the town’s many modern facilities. With its prominent position on Gatehouse Road, Avondale offers a haven of calm and tranquility within private landscaped grounds, only a few minutes from Aylesbury’s bustling town centre. Avondale is also less than 20 minutes away from Haddenham, Thame and Wendover.

Opened in 2010, Avondale provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure Avondale is able to meet the changing needs of its residents.

Our expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.

All residents benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a fully equipped gym, library, leisure and wellness room and a private dining room for special family occasions.

In keeping with our unique and award winning leisure and wellness philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped gardens for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercising.

Rupert Johnston, French horn Christmas carols

Saturday 4th December 2021 - 2.00pm

The wonderfully talented Rupert Johnston will be performing a variety of Christmas Carols on his French horn. Sing, clap and dance along to his well-known songs.

Dancing with Shona

Tuesday 14th December 2021 - 3.30pm

This is a fun and friendly dance exercise class which will keep you entertained and active. Dancing is not only enjoyable, but good for the body, helping with co-ordination and circulation.

Emily Yarrow Christmas show

Wednesday 22nd December 2021 - 3.00pm

Emily Yarrow is an excellent performer who will be providing us with a special Christmas show sure to please everyone with an addition of classic Christmas songs. She is very popular with all our residents and is full of energy.

Santa’s sing-along

Friday 24th December 2021 - 2.30pm

What better way to celebrate the holidays than with our own sing along with Santa, which will include Christmas classics and favourite songs from all time. Lyrics will be displayed on the screen so all can sing along.

Wild Science

What could be better than getting up close and personal with cute creatures? On Wednesday September 1st, our residents were treated to a visit from Wild Science. Wild Science is a company specialising in home and party visits from all kinds of different animals such as guinea pigs, hedgehogs and hamsters! Our residents had the opportunity to pet and cuddle these cute, friendly creatures. It’s safe to say, they definitely made an impression and we can’t wait to have them back in our home.

Avondale’s Trip to Southend

With the weather being so bright and sunny, what better place to go than the Seaside? Avondale residents took a trip to Southend-on-Sea, and enjoyed fish and chips by the pier. They had a walk along the sea front, getting that fresh sea air. They then indulged in ice creams, which were a race to eat before they melted! A lovely day enjoyed by all.
