Elf Day 2020

Date posted: 5th January 2021

Elf Day was held on 4th December and everyone got into the spirit of the day by dressing up to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause which is very important to us at Lavender Oaks. Everyone from management to our nurses, carers and residents dressed up and we played a selection of elf-themed games and quizzes before watching Elf the movie in our cinema.

Residents Make Poppies for Remembrance Day

Date posted: 10th December 2020

This year’s Poppy Appeal was hindered by the current restrictions throughout the country and as the Royal British Legion were unable to distribute poppies as they normally would, our residents enjoyed making their own during our leisure and wellness crafting sessions. We had a great time creating the poppies which are so symbolic for so many of our residents, in particular our lovely resident Ian who served with the Royal Navy during WWII.

Lavender Oaks Garden Challenge Triumphs

Date posted: 6th November 2020

After a lot of hard work and dedication, we received the results of our Garden Challenge efforts and were extremely pleased to find out that we had placed as the overall runners up in the competition and won the tallest sunflower category too with our 9ft entry!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the challenge with us. Staff and residents contributed countless hours to helping us transform the garden to fulfil the competition categories and it was a wonderful thing to unite everyone over the summer. Of course, we had to celebrate our winning success so we hosted an English cream tea party for anyone who wanted to attend!
