Ideally located in a spacious and leafy site with panoramic views of surrounding hills and woodland, Porthaven’s care home, Lavender Oaks, sits proudly on Metcalfe Avenue, off Woodmansterne Road. As well as providing excellent care for the residents of Carshalton, our home is a very popular home for many residents of surrounding villages and towns such as Woodcote, Chipstead and Banstead.

Lavender Oaks provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure our home is able to meet the changing needs of its residents.

Porthaven’s expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.

Residents benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a café, cinema, hairdressing salon and nail bar, leisure and wellness room and private dining room for special family occasions.

In keeping with our unique and award winning leisure and wellness philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped garden for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercising.

Jewish New Year

Monday 6th September 2021

Our residents will be learning the culture of Rosh Hashanah Jewish New Year by making and sampling challah bread and experiencing other Jewish traditions.

Afternoon Tea Dance

Tuesday 14th September 2021

Barry Stevens will be singing for us in the bistro where residents can enjoy afternoon tea and then a dance to the much-loved entertainer.

World Alzheimer’s Day

Tuesday 21st September 2021

To celebrate World Alzheimer’s Day, residents will get creative by crafting forget me nots and then sowing forget me not seeds.

Autumn Equinox

Wednesday 22nd September 2021

The creativity will continue to celebrate autumn equinox! We will making autumnal-themed decorations to be displayed around the home.

Cupcake Decorating for a Finals Weekend

To celebrate the final of Wimbledon and England getting through to the euros final, our residents spent the morning baking and decorating cupcakes. The aim was to combine both a tennis and football theme with the design and everyone really enjoyed the challenge. We then all enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea sampling the cupcake creations whilst looking forward to watching both of the matches in the cinema and on the television. 

Hydration and Nutrition Week at Lavender Oaks

As part of hydration and nutrition awareness week, residents enjoyed participating in a themed week of making mocktails, sampling tropical fruits and trying different drink recipes.
