Homemade apple pies

Date posted: 25th November 2021

As part of our seasonal programme at Chiltern Grange Care Home, we baked some delicious apple puff pies. Residents at our Home in Stokenchurch chose from a selection of autumnal cutters, rolled out pastry and filled the pies with homemade caramelised apple. Our residents then finished this off with an egg wash and a sprinkling of golden caster sugar.

Thankfully, many pies were baked so residents on all of our floors were able to share in these culinary delights. During the upcoming weeks, we will be baking some Christmas treats to help us feel festive!

Pumpkin Gonks

Date posted: 25th October 2021

Our residents at Chiltern Grange care home, located in Stokenchurch, have recently spent the day creating mini pumpkin gonks! A take on the traditional Scandinavian gnome designs, our residents used mini pumpkins and gourds to make these delightful autumnal treasures.

The activity encouraged dexterity and design as they used templates for the hats and made bushy beards from wool. As this is a very adaptable craft, we plan on creating some Christmas designs in the future using pine cones for Santa-themed gonks. Our wonderful creatures can now be seen decorating the lounge area. This was a great activity enjoyed by all!

Falconry

Date posted: 25th October 2021

We were delighted to have the falconry team visit Chiltern Grange and let us meet a variety of different birds of prey. Our residents were thrilled by the experience and could not wait to get up close and hold these amazing birds at the end of their presentation. By popular demand, our residents are looking forward to a bus trip to visit the falconry show and see these incredible creatures in full flight!
