Located in the world famous ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’, the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is the setting for Penhurst Gardens Care Home. Steeped in tradition and heritage, Chipping Norton has a picture postcard setting with Cotswold stone architecture and is surrounded by rolling countryside.

Our care home is situated just five minutes’ walk from the thriving High Street, set back in a tranquil and idyllic enclave on the former Penhurst School site on New Street. Nearby towns and villages like Woodstock, Burford, Witney, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Banbury are all within easy reach.

Opened in December 2016, Penhurst Gardens provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure Penhurst Gardens is able to meet the changing needs of our residents.

Porthaven’s expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.

All residents at Penhurst Gardens benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a café, hairdressing salon, leisure and wellness room and private dining room for special family occasions.

In keeping with our unique and award winning leisure and wellness philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped gardens for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercise.

Wimbledon Themed Arts & Crafts

Tuesday 3rd July 2018 - 3:30pm

Join Abbie Cooke, for a Wimbledon themed session of arts and crafts. Accomplished sculptor, Abbie, is Britain’s only female ships’ figurehead carver and her work has been featured in the Financial Times, Sky Television and on the BBC.

Pottery Class

Thursday 12th July 2018 - 2:30pm

Everyone is welcome to join Mitch Thompson’s pottery workshop for a spot of creativity!

Hurricane Fly Over & BBQ

Sunday 15th July 2018 - 12:00-3:00pm

During the annual Royal International Air Tattoo in nearby Fairford, Penhurst have requested a special flyover of the home. Keep an eye out for details!

Multcultural Art Workshop

Friday 20th July 2018 - 2:30pm

In2Cultures will be assisting our residents with projects based around textiles from the Maasai of East Africa, Aboriginal Australia and the Native Americans. The visually stunning projects will range from observational drawings to collage work and basket weaving.

Animal Therapy Visit

We welcomed Enzo and Scally,two alpacas into the home giving residents and visitors a chance to get up close and personal with the inquisitive, charismatic and often mischievous pair. The alpacas were very friendly and were able to visit residents throughout the home as part of animal therapy.

Penhurst Residents Thrive in Community Engagement Scheme

A group of residents from Penhurst Gardens recently spent the afternoon helping out at our local Midcounties Co-operative as part of a joint community engagement scheme. Our residents spent the afternoon assisting at the checkouts, stacking shelves and serving samples from the delicatessen.
