Located in the world famous ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’, the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is the setting for Penhurst Gardens Care Home. Steeped in tradition and heritage, Chipping Norton has a picture postcard setting with Cotswold stone architecture and is surrounded by rolling countryside.

Our care home is situated just five minutes’ walk from the thriving High Street, set back in a tranquil and idyllic enclave on the former Penhurst School site on New Street. Nearby towns and villages like Woodstock, Burford, Witney, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Banbury are all within easy reach.

Opened in December 2016, Penhurst Gardens provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure Penhurst Gardens is able to meet the changing needs of our residents.

Porthaven’s expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.

All residents at Penhurst Gardens benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a café, hairdressing salon, leisure and wellness room and private dining room for special family occasions.

In keeping with our unique and award winning leisure and wellness philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped gardens for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercise.

Medieval Games for Residents / Sport Event / Exercise

TUESDAY 7TH & 21ST SEPTEMBER - 10.45am

Join us in the ground floor courtyard for medieval games! Try your hand at crossbow tournaments, catapult battles and jousting. Win the kingdom and a crown for the victors.

Sunrae Inclusive Dance with Lizzie

THURSDAY 9TH & 23RD SEPTEMBER - 10.45am

Lizzie will be returning to present an ever growing popular activity. Join us in the dining room for standing, seated and wheelchair dance opportunities to participate in; a fun way to stay fit and look good whilst you are doing it!

Outing to the Chipping Norton Theatre

SATURDAY 11TH & WEDNESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER - 7.30pm

Our residents will have the opportunity to attend the Chipping Norton Theatre to see ‘The Crimes of Egypt’ on 11th September and ‘Kathryn Tickell’ on 29th September. This event will take place in accordance with restrictions and required guidelines at the time of the event.

Cooking with the Chef

TUESDAY 14TH & 28TH SEPTEMBER - 11.00am

Head Chef Paul will cooking with residents in the garden and leisure and wellness room. Our residents will be preparing seasonal dishes with an opportunity to taste the fruits of their labours.

A Musical End to May!

On Saturday 30th May, we welcomed performers Jane and Emily Coulcher into our home.  The entertainment went down a treat and everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening to the beautiful string instrument. 

The harpists played a selection of music including Frank Sinatra, The Sound of Silence and other well-known classical pieces. A relaxing Sunday afternoon was had by all and we are thrilled to have performers back in our home!
