Bordering the historic mill town of Congleton and the delightful village of Astbury in the heart of East Cheshire, Astbury Mere enjoys a truly enviable position. Whilst only a few minutes drive from the centre of town, the home enjoys a leafy setting adjacent to the natural open beauty of Astbury Mere Country Park. Astbury Mere is also less than 20 minutes away from Biddulph, Kidsgrove and Sandbach.

Opened in 2010, Astbury Mere provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure Astbury Mere is able to meet the changing needs of its residents.

Our expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.

All residents benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a hairdressing salon, a leisure and wellness room and a private dining room for special family occasions.

In keeping with our unique and award winning leisure and wellness philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped gardens for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercising.

Grand National Day

Saturday 10th April 2021

We will be holding our own race events throughout the day and choosing our horses for the big race. We will be following the live event whilst indulging in a high tea and a glass of bubbles!

Astbury Mere Highland Games

Friday 16th April 2021 - 11.00am–4.00pm

Our residents and staff will be taking part in our own version of the Highland Games with some serious challenges throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.

Bus Trip to our Local Park

Friday 23rd April 2021 - 11.00am & 2.30pm

This will be our first trip out since lockdown began and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s also St George’s Day, so throughout the day, we will be looking back at St George’s Day traditions and the stories and poetry that stem from this day.

Residents Meeting

Friday 30th April 2021 - 3.00pm

Come along to our residents meeting and let us know if you have any suggestions as to how we can improve our leisure and wellness offering. If you have an activity you’d like to try or if there’s anything you aren’t so keen on, let us know so we can ensure your activity programme is tailored to your needs and interests.

Minibus Trips Resume at Porthaven Care Homes

We were as thrilled as our residents were to see the minibuses back in action this week! In line with the UK government roadmap out of lockdown, we have resumed short trips out and about in the local areas. With our residents and staff now vaccinated, this is truly a sign of better days ahead and a welcome return to our leisure and wellness programmes. Chinese New Year Taste Sensations

The leisure and wellness team have been continuing to organise a series of taste sensation sessions by decorating the sensory trolley in keeping with the season and special occasions. Recently, they decorated the sensory trolley in honour of Chinese New Year, visiting residents with Chinese snacks for them to try, along with refreshments and green tea. The team also gave residents lucky bags, which included lucky coins and a sweet to bring them sweet fortunes. The trolley also played traditional music to create a real taste of China!
