News & Events at Tonbridge House

We have been everywhere this month! Our Tonbridge House residents have made great use of our minibus, and we started the month with a trip to Haysden Country Park to walk around with a cup of tea and feed the birds.

A week later, we made a trip to enjoy a nice afternoon at Brookside Garden Centre… twice! This is a fan favourite, and we have become regulars. Later in the month, our wonderful residents visited the Poult Wood Golf Course for lunch. It was absolutely delicious, and we will definitely be making another visit!

To finish off the month, our Client Services Manager, Rebekah, attended the Sevenoaks District Chamber of Commerce meeting as a guest. These events are a fantastic opportunity to connect with local businesses, share ideas, and strengthen ties within the community. Building strong relationships with those around us is at the heart of everything we do at Tonbridge House.

Celebrating National Lizard Day in style

Did you know that it was National Lizard Day in August?

Our Tonbridge House Care Home residents got into the mood to celebrate all things lizard with a visit from the wonderful Naomi from Animalia Encounters, who brought along lots of friendly reptiles, amongst other animals, for our residents to say hello to. Naomi’s passion and knowledge shone through as she explained fascinating facts about each creature, from their habitats and diets to their personalities and quirky behaviours. Our residents were enthralled by the chance to see the animals up close.

The stars of the day included a bearded dragon, tortoises, a charming tree frog, and even a corn snake, each one sparking curiosity and conversation as Naomi introduced them. Alongside the reptiles, residents also enjoyed meeting some more unusual animals, including skinny pigs, guinea pigs, and a fluffy lionhead rabbit.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of questions for Naomi, making it a truly memorable experience. A big thank you to Animalia Encounters for helping us celebrate National Lizard Day in such a unique and interactive way.

Visiting our furry (and scaly!) friends

Earlier in the month, our residents at Tonbridge House Care Home enjoyed a delightful trip to Princess Christian’s Farm for a hands-on day with a variety of animals. We were treated to cuddles with a big fluffy rabbit, a curious ferret, and even a lizard. There were also opportunities to stroke the pigs and alpacas, along with sightings of many other friendly little creatures.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team at Princess Christian’s Farm in Hildenborough. You looked after us so well, shared fascinating facts throughout the tour, and made sure our residents could interact with the animals as much as possible. It was a truly memorable day for everyone involved!
