Hoping for a ‘wheel’ success!

Every year our residents here at Astbury Mere Care Home enter the Congleton Wheelbarrow Challenge in the hopes of having the best decorated wheelbarrow in the community. This year’s theme was ‘Celebrations’, so our residents decided to create a wheelbarrow inspired by His Majesty’s Coronation! The Congleton and District Horticultural Society judged the wheelbarrows earlier in the month, and for the rest of the summer they will be on display in Congleton Park’s double polytunnel for the public to enjoy. We are already crossing our fingers for good results in October!

A beautiful day for boating

Our Astbury Mere Care Home residents love the opportunity to get out and about when the sun is shining, so in June we took a trip to Rudyard Lake in the Staffordshire Moorlands for a picnic and boat ride! Those in attendance enjoyed sailing down the reservoir on the Frolic 31, which is an Edwardian style launch, whilst listening to music and taking in the superb scenery. Our resident Bill was even invited to captain the vessel, which certainly put a smile on his face!

A feast fit for a King!

Here at Astbury Mere Care Home, in May we watched along with the rest of the world from our corner of Congleton as His Majesty King Charles III was coronated! It was spectacular to watch the monumental event on the big screen in our home, and afterwards we celebrated with a party in our gorgeous garden. Our residents and relatives enjoyed live entertainment by the fantastic Larry Shannon, and our talented kitchen team delighted everyone with a delicious meal and Pimm’s cocktails!
