Emma Harding becomes Home Manager at Astbury Mere

“I’m delighted to have been promoted to Home Manager at Astbury Mere having been the deputy manager here for three years. I learned a great deal from Martin and he has left me a wonderful home to manage.

I started my career in care back in 1995 and in 2002, qualified as a Registered Nurse. Initially I worked as an emergency surgical nurse but later joined the district nursing team looking after people in our community and I remained in this position for six years.

I was presented with the opportunity to join Porthaven in 2010 in the then newly built, Astbury Mere Care Home and fell in love with the home straight away! For a short time I worked here as a nurse and then received my first promotion and became Deputy Manager, working alongside Martin in this capacity for three years. I am now thrilled to have taken the reins and I plan to continue to uphold the excellent standards that are already embedded at Astbury Mere.

During my time in district nursing I developed a passion for the care of older people and in particular, end of life nursing. I have kept this with me over the years and as Home Manager, I will encourage my team to share my passion for ensuring we continually strive to better the quality of life for each of our residents on a daily basis.

Outside of work, I have two children and a Cocker Spaniel called Honey who take up all of my time. We are very sociable and love nothing more than eating out and being in the great outdoors!”
