Resident Raises Money for the Stroke Association

There are many causes close to our heart here at Astbury Mere and one such cause is the Stroke Association.
Doreen Walsh moved to Cheshire to be closer to her family and is now a resident with us. Her husband Brian also lives with us following a stroke last year. As a former art and music teacher, Doreen has created some wonderful pieces of art over the years and decided to put her artistic skills to good use as part of this year’s Care Home Open Day.
As part of the national event, we supported Doreen in hosting her own art exhibition which was a superb occasion with members of our local community, including the town mayor, visiting to admire her work. Doreen’s collection raised a brilliant £412.88 which was donated to the Stroke Association in recognition of all of their ground-breaking work. Doreen remains a very active member of our home and now established her own art and music classes which are well-attended!
