Just before Christmas we were contacted by Pipers Corner School, a local girls’ school, who very kindly asked if we would like to take part in their Christmas community project, an initiative which aimed to unite our residents and their loved ones through the creation of a virtual Christmas card.
The families and friends of our residents were asked to record video messages and to send in photos from previous Christmases or other happy occasions as well as songs which were particularly meaningful from the festive season. We were overwhelmed by the effort that went into the videos sent in, with many families and friends from all over the world dressing up, playing instruments, singing carols and spreading Christmas cheer.
Once all of the messages, photos and songs had been collated, the girls from Pipers Corner sent us the most touching video which our staff ensured was seen by residents over the Christmas period. Everyone expressed how fantastic they thought the video was with resident Janet describing it as: “Absolutely lovely, a real surprise! Amazing to see everybody, and even my family from Australia! I loved it.” Another resident, Pat, said: “It was so lovely and I am ever so grateful! Thank you, hugs, kisses and love to all.”
As well as the beautiful virtual Christmas card, the girls from Pipers Corner very generously delivered a selection of handpicked gifts for residents, with each gift individually wrapped and accompanied by a handwritten note.
We were touched to have been considered by the girls for their Christmas project and seeing the well wishes from family and friends certainly added some extra sparkle to our Christmas.
