Nestled in the peaceful village of Great Shelford approximately four miles outside of Cambridge, Barley Manor Care Home is situated on Station Road, less than five minutes from Shelford station. Great Shelford and its surrounding areas include notable sites such as the River Cam and King’s College Chapel.
This quaint location was home to children’s author Philippa Pearce OBE for a number of years, who based her books in a fictional version of the village renamed ‘Great Barley’, which is where our home’s name originates from. On its own, Great Shelford has all the amenities one could wish for, including a weekly farmers’ market, however, it’s close proximity to the city of Cambridge makes it the ideal location for those looking for the best of both worlds.
Barley Manor Care Home offers 24-hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care within an environment purpose-built for the practical delivery of high-quality care whilst still being stylish, comfortable and incorporating many thoughtful features that are always tailored towards the satisfaction and safety of our residents.
Experienced and empathetic care comes as standard at every Porthaven care home, and at Barley Manor our team of hand-selected individuals are available to support not only the physical needs of our residents but their emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs too. We place a particular emphasis on encouraging independence and promoting wellbeing through good nutrition, hydration and engagement.
Every resident at Barley Manor Care Home benefits from a generously sized bedroom with an en suite wetroom, as well as numerous communal living areas for socialising with loved ones, engaging in their hobbies and dining. Our residents also have access to our state-of-the-art gym, cinema, café and hair and nail salon. A dedicated activities and wellbeing room and a private dining room for special family occasions completes the array of first-class facilities on offer at Barley Manor.
Barley Manor Care Home is a place to live well in our care in style. We would be delighted to speak to you and show you around our home so you can see for yourself what makes a Porthaven home so special.
To arrange a visit please call our Home Manager Narcis Militaru, our Client Services Manager Denise Gilchrist or, if you prefer, simply send us a message.
