On Friday 5th October, Tonbridge House was formally opened by Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, Angela Rippon, during an official opening ceremony.
Angela, who is well known for her long and varied career in broadcasting, knows a thing or two about care and in particular, dementia care, as she has experienced the condition first hand from caring for her own mother. We felt that she was the perfect person to open our exceptional new home and it was a great day, celebrated with our residents, relatives and members of our local community.
Following a champagne reception, Angela gave a speech on the factors that make a good care home such as compassionate and dedicated staff and the opportunity to continue to be independent and creative, and why she believes Porthaven homes encompass all of these aspects. A beautiful lunch followed thanks to head chef, Sally and her team, ending what was definitely a memorable day for all.
