24th National Care Awards 2022: Porthaven’s Victory

Here at Porthaven we are thrilled to announce that we were awarded ‘Best Care Home Group over 10 settings’ at the 24th National Care Awards on Saturday 26th November. The National Care Awards honour the very best within the long-term care sector by recognising those who display unending dedication towards providing exceptional care. We competed against nine other care home groups in the ‘Best Care Home Group over 10 settings’ category and were honoured to have been chosen as the recipients of this accolade. This title is awarded to groups that combine exceptional care for their residents with excellent staff progression. We were also nominated in three other categories, including ‘Best Care Operations/Area Manager’ for our Regional Director Sue Astill, ‘Best Care Activities Co-ordinator’ for our Activities and Wellbeing Co-ordinator Alex Samson at Thirlestaine Park in Cheltenham, and ‘Best Care Team’ for Wiltshire Heights in Bradford on Avon.

Members of our team from across the country were in attendance at the ceremony and, despite missing out on the individual awards, were delighted to be invited on stage to jointly accept the group award and share in this monumental achievement.

Our Chief Executive John Storey has commented, ‘Since we opened our first care home in 2010, our goal has been to build a portfolio of remarkable homes where the care provided is matched by first-rate facilities, compassionate staff and exceptional living environments which enhance the wellbeing of every one of our residents. I am elated that 12 years later this objective is still being fulfilled and that the hard work of every member of the Porthaven team has been recognised by such a distinguished awarding body. I am sincerely grateful to everybody who has made this achievement possible.’

At Porthaven we are no stranger to awards and accolades. Earlier this year we celebrated winning ‘Best Interior Design’ at the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards for our Upton Mill Care Home in Tetbury. This goes alongside our 2020 Pinders award for ‘Best Specialist Dementia Design’ for our care home Falkland Grange in Newbury. This year we were also recognised as a top 20 rated mid-size care home group by carehome.co.uk, the sector’s leading care home comparison website, for the seventh consecutive year.
