Awards all Round at Bourne Wood Manor!

This year saw the return of the annual Porthaven garden and hospitality awards. Here at Bourne Wood Manor in Farnham, Surrey, we were hard at work preparing for this and we were thrilled by the dedication shown by both our residents and staff.

As part of the garden challenge, we were tasked with creating a dementia garden, a vegetable patch, a pop-up garden and growing the tallest sunflower. We were amazed to discover that we had won the award for the tallest sunflower measuring at 10ft tall, as well as an award for our dementia garden.

We are so proud of our Head Chef, Will, who won the chef competition this year. Everyone on the day was given £30 to shop and cook a main course of their choice and Will crafted a delicious cod dish accompanied by squid, chorizo and a pea and avocado puree. The technical challenge involved making a Swiss roll without cornflour, the key ingredient making it easy to fold! Will did fantastically in this also and we couldn’t be happier, well done!

In addition to winning prizes in the Porthaven awards, we also got 1st place in Farnham in Bloom for our garden.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped and here’s to next year!
