Statement in response to latest CQC rating

“We have apologised to residents and their families for any concerns they may have had following the low rating of the Home by CQC, and we have been overwhelmed by the high levels of their support for the Home and its staff.

The types of documentary and clinical governance failings noted by CQC had been identified during routine Home auditing in August, but regrettably were not addressed by the time of inspection. The vast majority were rectified during or in the immediate aftermath of the inspection as noted in the report. Staff levels in the Home have always exceeded or significantly exceeded national guidelines, but were not always deployed effectively as CQC noted.

Like CQC, we do not condone any failure to observe the duty of candour, nor any shortcomings in good staff management practices.  Our staff work hard to provide the best standards of care to our residents, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. When faced with details of the CQC’s findings, the local Home Manager immediately resigned, and the Home is now undergoing a local management change process.”
