Captain Jim Forbes

On the 6^th of June our resident Captain Jim Forbes received an emotional welcome when he returned to Normandy to mark the 79^th anniversary of D-Day alongside fellow British veterans. A navy man, Jim was captain of the Empire Russell and has been awarded four British military campaign medals over the years for his service during the Second World War, including the 1939-45 star, the France and Germany star, the Italy star and the 1939-45 war medal. In 2016 Jim was also awarded the Legion d’honneur, France’s highest military award, for his role in the Normandy landings.
