Located in the world famous ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’, the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is the setting for Penhurst Gardens Care Home. Steeped in tradition and heritage, Chipping Norton has a picture postcard setting with Cotswold stone architecture and is surrounded by rolling countryside.
Our care home is situated just five minutes’ walk from the thriving High Street, set back in a tranquil and idyllic enclave on the former Penhurst School site on New Street. Nearby towns and villages like Woodstock, Burford, Witney, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Banbury are all within easy reach.
Opened in December 2016, Penhurst Gardens provides 24 hour residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for the elderly in an elegant and spacious home incorporating numerous thoughtful and practical features which ensure Penhurst Gardens is able to meet the changing needs of our residents.
Porthaven’s expertly trained and professional staff are dedicated to the care, comfort and dignity of all our residents, with special emphasis given to promoting independence, privacy, respect and wellbeing.
All residents at Penhurst Gardens benefit from living in a caring environment with generously appointed private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms, and plentiful communal living areas including sitting rooms, restaurants, a café, hairdressing salon, activities and wellbeing room and private dining room for special family occasions.
In keeping with our unique and award winning activities and wellbeing philosophy, our residents also benefit from our private and secure landscaped gardens for peaceful relaxation, gardening and if the weather permits, gentle exercise.

There were a huge selection of cakes on offer, including clementine cake, lemon drizzle and a particularly playful colourful sponge cake made by our Maintenance Technician Stuart and his daughter! Thank you to everybody who joined us and helped us fundraise for this vital charity – we hope you enjoyed your cake!

With the help of friends and family, our residents and team got to work clearing out the winter crops and preparing for summer by planting plenty of flowers, fruits and vegetables. We all had a wonderful time getting our gardening gloves on again, and we would like to say a very big thank you to everybody who joined us to help out – especially Belinda the dog, who kept a very close eye on our progress throughout the day!

Our marvellous kitchen team produced a mouth-watering meal for everybody to enjoy that included Highland salmon, haggis, neeps and tatties, which we enjoyed whilst listening to a very talented bagpiper. To finish off the afternoon, we were treated to an incredible performance by local Highland dancers, who wowed us all with their skills and provided a perfect ending to the perfect day!
