Carer Wins Dementia Carer Award at Great British care Awards

Well done to our carer Sophie Bishop who was the deserving winner of the ‘Dementia Carer’ award at the South West regional finals of the Great British Care Awards.

Sophie has worked at Penhurst Gardens since 2018 and was awarded this accolade after the judging panel recognised the passion she demonstrates for her work, noting she was ‘full of enthusiasm which is infectious’. They commended Sophie for taking great pleasure in the small successes she encountered within her role which could be huge achievements for the residents in her care. Sophie said these successes empowered the individuality of her residents, making her love her job even more.

The ‘Dementia Carer’ award seeks to recognise those who are able to manage and deliver services sensitive to the needs of older people living with dementia. The recipient of the award is able to demonstrate an understanding of the condition and how to personalise the care they provide to residents living with dementia. The Great British Care Awards seek to celebrate excellence within the care sector and we’re delighted for Sophie on this well-deserved win.
