Exploring Chinese Traditions for Chinese New Year

As it was Chinese New Year at the beginning of February and every month we do a themed evening, we decided to host a Chinese-themed party in celebration. We set up the bistro so that as our residents walked in, there was an explosion of red, a colour which is considered to be lucky in Chinese culture. There were Chinese lanterns strewn around the room and our staff dressed in red too.

We started with a quiz for those who knew lots about Chinese traditions, read stories about how the Earth was created and polished off lots of spring rolls, dumplings and cocktails. It was brilliant evening immersing ourselves into the Chinese culture and learning about traditions we were unaware of before. Another very successful themed evening indeed!
