Well done to our home manager, Matthew Berry, who has been named as a finalist in the Care Home Manager of the Year category at this year’s National Care Awards! Matt, who has been home manager here at Penhurst Gardens since it opened in late 2016, was recognised for the exceptional way in which he runs the home, supports the ever expanding team of staff and is committed to the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of our residents. Penhurst Gardens has gone from strength to strength under Matt’s management. Four members of our team were nominated for awards at last year’s Great British Care Awards, with nurse Alison Young winning the ‘Good Nurse’ category on the night. Penhurst Gardens has also been highly commended by NAPA, an organisation which focusses on the importance of activities for older people, and is currently rated 10 out of 10 on independent review website, carehome.co.uk, ranking as the top care home in the district of West Oxfordshire. It, of course, came as no surprise to those of us who know and work with Matt when it was announced that he was a finalist for this much sought after award. The winner of the award will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 30th November and we wish Matt lots of luck on the night.
