Care Home Open Day Resident Art Exhibition

Our weekly art classes are hugely popular and are a much-loved feature of our leisure and wellness programme.

During these sessions, residents are free to express their creativity and lose themselves in their artwork, dabbling in everything from watercolours and sketching to pencil drawing and brushing up on their art history.

We held an art exhibition recently which saw a wide range of different artistic styles on display including watercolours, oil paintings and sketches. It was important to our leisure and wellness team that they showcased the artwork created by residents prior to living at Thirlestaine Park too. One lady had painted a wonderful self-portrait and a fruit bowl using oils whilst another resident displayed four of her watercolours in the exhibition. There were two little sketchbooks on display full of lovely pencil drawings capturing holiday memories and scenic views and the creator enjoyed talking through the sketchbooks with people as they looked through them.

All of the beautiful photos of residents taken during our recent ‘Hollywood’ photoshoot were on show for guests to view as well as the intergenerational art project created in conjunction with the children of Little Apples Nursery.

Residents and guests had a lovely day sat outside in the sun with wine and sweet treats. We kept the exhibition up for Care Home Open Day the following day which celebrated ‘the arts’. We have had a great deal of positive feedback so we’ve decided the exhibition will now become an annual event.
