A Visit from Author Muriel Freeborn

Our book club members were delighted to welcome local Bradford on Avon author Muriel Freeborn to Wiltshire Heights this month. In 2017 Muriel wrote her first book at the age of 91, titled ‘Ellie Hopeson 91’. Muriel began her journey as she reflected on the life of her friend who was a writer and had recently passed away, and in doing so found writing to be therapeutic and provide an unexpected pleasure. Muriel writes for the elderly, but also for the young, as she remarks they will be elderly one day too. Our residents were lucky enough to hear Muriel read a few chapters from a book she published this year titled ‘Several Cups of Tea’. At the end Muriel held a Q&A, where our residents had many questions to ask. Everybody was thrilled to meet an author whose passion had blossomed in their later years and had managed to publish a number of books in a relatively short space of time. Muriel as honoured to be able to share her life history with us, and our residents loved having her there.
