Below are a selection of upcoming activities at Woodland Manor.
THURSDAY 4TH AUGUST
We all thoroughly enjoy a biscuit with our afternoon cup of tea. On this day, our talented chef, Julia, will be leading a session with our residents to bake some chocolate chip cookies.
National Lighthouse Day
MONDAY 8TH AUGUST
To mark this national day, we will be using recycled materials to make lighthouse models as we look at the British coastline. We will also be sharing information all about the RNLI.
THURSDAY 11TH AUGUST
We will be experimenting with sand art and using coloured sand to create postcards to send to our relatives. This activity will encourage us to reminisce on our holidays.
India Independence Day
MONDAY 15TH AUGUST
To celebrate India Independence Day, we will be including a curry option on the menu, listening to Indian music, tea tasting and discussing the Indian Empire.
Arts and Crafts
FRIDAY 19TH AUGUST
We will be taking part in an arts and crafts day in our activity room. We will be experimenting it different materials such as potato printing on paper and fabric.
National Bats Day
THURSDAY 25TH AUGUST
To mark this day, we will be welcoming an education centre to learn more about these fascinating animals.

Our next book will be ‘Treasure Island’. In our last weekly session of this read we will have our own treasure map of our garden to find those ‘pieces of eight’.
Seated and Standing Dance Class
Join Michelle as she gets our dancing shoes on.
Now that the weather is improving it’s all hands on deck to tend to our garden, planting vegetables in the troughs and watering our flower beds. Keeping our fingers crossed for the tallest sunflower in the Porthaven competition.
Book a session from reception for Jacqui’s visit. In our arts and crafts group we will be creating some ‘hairdressing from the ages’ scrapbooks and some portraits of Hollywood stars.
Arts and Crafts
Come join as we try out tie-dying some garden cushions or summer scarves, get ready to explore various painting techniques.
Our flower arranging class is a wonderful opportunity to discuss flowers in bloom and to create some masterpieces using grasses from our garden. We will be using our iPad to locate local gardens of interest for summer minibus trips such as a local lavender farm.
