Over 4th and 5th July, we held an African themed fundraising drive to raise money for Sunnyside Park Care Home in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, who want to set up a gym for their residents and have asked for Porthaven’s help in raising the funds to do this.
As we’re always up for a challenge and enjoy helping others, we organised two days of fundraising so Sunnyside Park can purchase gym equipment to help enhance the lives of their residents and create fitness goals for them to work towards. Some of the residents have never been to a gym or had the opportunity to use this type of equipment before so we were pleased to lend a helping hand.
Over the course of the two days, we ‘cycled’ to Africa thanks to an exercise bike and a set of foot pedals with many of our staff members, residents and their relatives joining in to clock up the miles. We were also joined by the Mayor of Cheshire East who jumped on the bike too and players from Macclesfield Football Club.
We decorated the home and dressed up for the occasion and there were cocktails and nibbles available for all. Everyone who joined in agreed it was a brilliant two days for a good cause.
