Colourful Carnival Day Brings the Caribbean to Wiltshire Heights

Our team at Wiltshire Heights brought all the fun of a Caribbean carnival to the home on Friday 9th August as they celebrated the summer with a very colourful, lively party.
Our residents had been working tirelessly on costumes for themselves and our team in recent weeks, tie dying t-shirts, decorating hats with an assortment of brightly coloured embellishments and making shakers and drums to complete the carnival experience.
Despite the wet weather outside, it didn’t dampen our spirits as we held an indoor parade. This involved lots of singing and dancing and we tucked into a Caribbean-themed lunch of spicy jerk burgers, pulled pork and pan-cooked pineapple and cinnamon cream washed down with a fruity rum punch served by our catering team.
It was a brilliant day full of the vitality so closely associated with the Caribbean. Libby Miles, our client services manager, said: “Everyone really enjoys putting these events on for our residents and it’s great to transport them somewhere new or evoke memories for those who have been lucky enough to have visited an area. Nothing is out of the question when it comes to putting on an event for our residents – they suggest it and we make it happen.”
